AI EngineeringAgents & Agentic Workflows
Agent Scale Launch
The agent that worked in a demo now runs in production. It has a human checkpoint on actions it can't undo, security controls, live monitoring, and a trained team to run it.
Agent Scale Launch
$80K–$200K
- Duration: 6–12 weeks
- Tier: Launch
- Format: Fixed scope
You leave withProduction agent system with HITL design, security control, monitoring and team training

It worked in the demo. Now everyone wants it live, and nobody wants to be the one who signed off on it if it breaks in front of a customer.
What you leave with
Production agent system
Format: Running in the client's production environment
How we know it’s acceptableHandles the agreed workflow end to end, no unmonitored failure, for an agreed run of days
Human-checkpoint design
Format: Documented and built into the system
How we know it’s acceptableEvery irreversible action stops for approval, confirmed by test cases
Security review
Format: Written report
How we know it’s acceptableSigned off by the client's security or compliance owner
Monitoring and alerts
Format: Live dashboard and alert rules
How we know it’s acceptableThe client's own team sees a failure within minutes, without calling us
Runbook
Format: In the client's repository
How we know it’s acceptableThe client's team can recover from a failure by following it, without us on the call
Training session
Format: Recorded and live
How we know it’s acceptableThe client's team can run and triage the system without a BigStep engineer present
Also included
- A clear next step: managed support, or a clean handover
How it runs
6–12 weeks
Weeks 1–2
Risk and scope mapping
OutA one-page spec naming every action the agent can take, which ones need a human checkpoint, and which systems it touches.
Weeks 3–7
Build
Checkpoint, security controls, monitoring.
OutThe agent running in staging with full tracing.
Weeks 8–10
Roll out
OutLive in production for the agreed workflow, monitoring and alerts active.
Weeks 11–12
Train and hand over
OutA trained team, a runbook, and the first measured numbers.
Is this right for you?
This is for you if
- Buyerwhoever owns the business result the agent delivers. Examples: Head of Operations, VP Engineering, or a CTO scaling a pilot another team built.
- Also has to say yesSecurity or Compliance (the agent gets access to live systems)
- Also has to say yesIT or Platform (they own the systems it touches)
- Also has to say yesFinance (this is a six-figure spend)
This is the wrong answer if
- No working prototype yet. Nothing is proven to scale. Send the client to a Tier 2 build sprint first.
- The workflow runs only a few times a month. The build cost won't pay back. Manual work is cheaper.
- The client won't accept a human checkpoint on actions it can't undo. We should not build this. The checkpoint stops a mistake becoming a headline.
- Nobody can name an owner for after we leave. The system will quietly fail within a year. Don't start without a named owner.
What’s included, and what isn’t
In scope
- One agent, made production-ready, across the systems and teams agreed at kickoff
- Human-checkpoint design
- Security review
- Monitoring
- Team training
- Handover
Out of scope
- Building a new agent from nothing (that's a Tier 2 sprint)
- Fixing the client's own data or systems
- Support after handover (that's Managed Services, priced separately)
- A second workflow (new scope, new quote)
Before we start
Before day one
- A working prototype or pilot already exists (this is not where the agent gets built)
- Production access to every system the agent will touch
- A named technical contact who can answer a question the same day
- Real, production-like data, not a cleaned sample
- Agreement on who approves an action the agent can't undo
What we’ll need from your team
- A platform or data engineer, 4 to 6 hours a week, for access and schema questions
- A domain expert, 2 to 3 hours a week, to confirm whether an action or answer is correct
- A decision-maker reachable within 24 hours, for the scope question that always arrives in week two or three
Pricing
What we need to give you a quote
- How often the workflow runs today (a week or a month, not “a lot”)
- Which systems hold the data the agent needs
- Whether permissions must be enforced at retrieval or at the application layer
- Whether this ships to one team or the whole function
After we hand over
Who owns it after we leave
Owner: a named engineer on the client's platform or operations team. They own the runbook, the alerts, and the exception queue.
What we measure
- Task completion rate
- Escalation rate (how often a human must step in)
- Cost per completed task
Agreed in week one, reported at handover.
What comes next
- Managed Services (Essential or Growth)once the system is live, for ongoing monitoring and support.
- A second Agent Scale Launch, for a client with more than one workflow ready to scale.
- The Cohort AI-Native Engineering Programmeif the ambition is organisation-wide.
Questions buyers ask us
Fair, and true. What takes longer: checkpoint design, security review, and monitoring that catches a quiet failure before a customer does.
Working once in a demo and staying correct after an API changes or volume grows tenfold are different problems. This closes that gap.
Only for actions that can't be undone. Reversible actions run straight through.
Only inside their own data. The moment a workflow spans more than one system, their tool stops helping.
The pilot was the easy 80%. The last 20%, the part that survives production, is most of the cost and most of the risk.
